EXCERPT from the Registers of the parish of St. Phillip and St. John for the year 1809.

On 31 July 1809 after I the undersigned parish priest of St. Vallier publicized three announcements during the preaching of our parish masses for three consecutive Sundays (for the Marriage) of PIERRE ROY a resident of the is parish since he was a boy, son of FRANCOIS ROI, a farmer and of the defunct MARGUERITE BRUNEAU his mother and father from this parish on the one hand and MARIE ARCHANGE BLAIS her father and mother of this parish on the other hand. The contracting parties being found related to the fourth degree of consanguinity obtained dispensation from the Monseigneur, not finding any other barrier to said marriage we gave them with the consent of their relatives the nuptial benediction according to the rites and customs of Our Mother, the holy church, in the presence of FRANCOIS ROY, father of the bridegroom, MICHEL ROI, his paternal uncle, ANTOINE BASIN a cousin who all stated they could write, read (the official document).
