Lars Olsson was born on February 29, 1793 probably in Barkåkra, Kristianstad, Sweden. This place is listed in many records as his birth place but there is no record of his birth anywhere.
The first record found for Lars is in the Swedish Household Examination records for the village of Troentorp in the parish of Västra Karup, Kristianstad County for 1811 - 1816. He is an unmarried farm hand and arrived at this farm in October 1815.

Lars and Karna's first child was born January 14, 1817, almost exactly 9 months after the marriage. Her name was Pernilla and there is only one record of her existence in the household examination records for 1815 - 1820. She probably died young.
Their next child was born in 1818 and died as an infant. His name was Bengt Petter.
Their third child was a girl named Christina. She was born on March 12, 1819 in Killebäckstorp, Grevie.
The next child was boy named Bengt Petter. That's the same name as the son who died as an infant. It was common practice to name a child after a child who had died. He was born on July 27, 1821 in Grevie.
Lars, Karna and their children lived in Killebäckstorp with Karna's father Steffen Larsson until October 14, 1823. That is when they left to live in Elestorp, Västra Karup.

They had one more child born in 1824 on a farm called Elestorp, Västra Karup. His name was Nils Petter. He died at the age of 12 from tvinsot (wasting sickness) which is when someone had lost significant weight and strength. It was probably consumption or what is known today as tuberculosis.
In 1832 Lars requested that he be discharged from service as a soldier due to certified ill health. This means that Lars had a doctor’s note or evidence proving ill health. He also requested that those providing for his service had to certify the grounds for his departure. Eight men supported Lars and his horse. He had served for 24 years in Skånska husarregementet regiment, company Bjäre härads skvadron, number 7.
Lars died May 20, 1840 at the age of 47. His cause of death is lungsot which is consumption or tuberculosis. He was a tenant farmer in Elestorp which means he held a hereditary right to farm a piece of land owned by the Crown or the Church. This land could be passed down to his heirs to continue to farm the land. The land was not owned by the farmer.

Daughter Christine left Elestorp for Småryd in 1841, the year after her father's death. There she married Sven Bengtsson and had three children.
Son Bengt married Kjersti Persdotter in 1843. They lived with Bengt’s mother Karna at Elestorp. He is listed in many records at this time as being a lodger in Elestorp. A lodger is someone who does not own their home and does not pay rent.
Karna goes by the name of Karna Hippias. Bengt and his children also used the surname of Hippias.
Bengt and Kjersti had 5 children. Their last child was born April 3, 1854. That following August, Kjersti died from complications of childbirth. The family was still living with Karna in Elestorp.
In 1860 Bengt married Ingrid Johansdotter. They lived with Karna in Elestorp. Their first child, Jöns Peter, was born in Elestorp the month before they got married. From the household examination record for Bengt and Ingrid 1857 - 1860, Ingrid and her two other children, Janne Vilhelm and Carolina, moved to Elestorp in 1860 from Svenstad. It also lists these two children as children of Bengt and Ingrid. On the baptism records for these two children they are listed as illegitimate. Although Jöns Peter was born before their parents married, he is considered legitimate because his parents were betrothed. Janne Vilhelm and Carolina were born after Bengt's first wife Kjersti had died so it is possible they could be his children but probably not. Janne Vilhelm used the surname of Johansson (the masculine form of his mother's surname). Carolina used the surname of Bengtsdotter, meaning her father's name was Bengt.

Bengt and Ingrid had a total of 4 children together, all boys.
Karna dies on July 29, 1862 at the age of 69. No cause of death is listed for her. She dies in Elestorp.
Karna's son Bengt left Elestorp on November 1, 1870 with his family and moved to Karup where he died in 1872.
