Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec

You don't even notice this church because of all the scaffolding. This is a big tourist attraction with a small gift shop.

The original church was built in 1647. Many of my ancestors attended this church. Before that Samuel de Champlain consturcted a chapel at the site in 1633. The church was extended between 1742 and 1748. In 1759 the church was destroyed by fire when Quebec was bombarded by the British. It was rebuilt from the original plans. Its architecture continued to be enhanced over the years. Another fire destroyed the church in 1922. The current church was built in 1923 using the old plans. You can read about the history of the church here.

Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré

When we approached this church, it was so big that I thought I might not be able to take a picture of the whole thing with my camera. It was built to be a toursit attraction at great expense. There is a very large gift shop that was half empty with merchandise because it was the end of the tourist season when we were there.

The current shrine was built in 1926. Some of my ancestors attended the orginal chapel that was built at this site.

Montmorency Falls

Montmorency Falls is one-and-a-half times taller than Niagara Falls. There is a cable car that takes you to the top. At the top you can walk across a suspension bridge and then walk down using staircases and wooden walkways. We didn't do that. Also at the top is the gift store and conference center with lots of pretty flowers.

Paul Benches

Before we left for the trip we joked about Paul finding a bench while I ran around taking pictures. So I took pictures of Paul sitting on the various benches and other spots.
